I just returned from our shopping trip to Atlanta. The only time we were not moving…we were either sleeping or driving! My back hurts, my feet are swollen, and my wallet is considerably lighter. Please understand if I grab a diet Dr. Pepper, put myself in a horizontal position,,,with a heating pad under my back and a pillow under my feet. And thanks for waiting patiently as I take some aspirin. O.K. I’m in a position to zone out now…and I think I shall….
I’m leaving around noon today on a quick trip to Atlanta. Suzanne and her mom and myself are going. Can you imagine going off with your Mother AND your Mother-in law? She’s a brave one, she is…:) Her mom is a lovely lady, and I’m sure we will have a wonderful time together. We are doing a little shopping tonight and then to the Apparel Mart tomorrow. And back to Dothan before too late, because we all have work Wed. morning. Say a prayer for our travelling safety. As I have told you before, Suzanne is great in that “devil speedway” in Atlanta. That’s why some folks call it “Hotlanta”….really…That’s the reason…I think it is….well, that’s why I call it that!
Happy Monday, Friends!
I am a big fan of this ladies’ music, and I just found her latest offering. Her name is Linda McKechnie and she is fabulous. Her music is instrumental…piano, but like you’ve never heard before. She starts off playing a classical piece and then she weaves familiar hymns and carols throughout. I first found her work by accident, and now I anxiously wait for her newest releases.
Pictured is her newest Christmas work and it is worthy of highest praise. My first CD of hers was called Hymnworks..I think there is a Vol.1 and 2. Then she has Symphony of Praise…Vol.1 and 2. There is also her first Christmas CD called A Hymnworks Christmas, and now Christmas Collage.
If you like classical music and are at all familiar with hymns and carols, you will love this series. It is like a little surprise on each song, because you get so engrossed in the classical selection, you don’t notice when she adds the hymn or carol into the piece until you find yourself humming along.
You should be able to find her music at any Christian bookstore, and she also has a web site www.lindamckechnie.com. I think you will be surprised at her mastery of the piano and her unique style. You’ll not be disappointed, I’m sure.
TAKE CHARGE CHARGER CASE
I went on a 3 night trip a few weeks ago, and realized just how dependent on electronics I have gotten. I had my cell phone, my PDA, and my laptop. I could have had my IPOD also, but I knew I wouldn’t use it cause I was travelling with 4 other girls. When you take those things with you…you have to take the chargers, also. What a mess when all those cords get tangled up with your shoes and your hairspray. This looks like a neat solution. This case has 4 separate sections just for holding your electronics chargers. They all stay together, and they keep their cords to themselves! I know a few men who do a bit of travelling…ladies, too ,for that matter, and this looks like a winner to me. Give those chargers their own little charger motel….your shoes and your hairspray will thank you for it.
Order from THE SPOON SISTERS…..cost…$ 12.50

Sixth in a series of fun gift ideas brought to you by Gatherings.
Yesterday, I made plans with Adam, my oldest, to help me with getting my car serviced today. He was to be at my house at 7:00AM and we were going to drop off my car and he was going to take me on to work, come back and get me and pick up my car. At 6:50 this morning, I realized it was foolish for him to come over here first…we should just meet at the car place. So, I called him. A very sleepy voice answered the phone and I was immediately unhappy with the implications. “Are you not up yet?”,I said. “Mam?”,he said. “Did you forget about my car?”, I prompted. “Mom, what are you talking about?” he said. “We made plans yesterday to get my car serviced and it’s now past time!”,I replied. There was a noticeable pause over the airwaves….then…”Wrong son, Mom,” the sleepy voice said. Oh my, I had called Ian in Birmingham by mistake! OOPS! “Never mind,”said I.
We did get the car business taken care of , then Adam and I were able to have a nice breakfast together. I went to work, and he came back to my house to bring Alex a cheese danish and to pick up my dog, Scooter. He (Scooter) has been limping for about a week, and also his allergies are bothering him really bad. Adam dropped him off at the vet, ran some errands, and picked me up and we got my car. Scooter was not ready, so I had to kill some time. I went and walked through our new Michael’s. Boy, it is packed with stuff. It is amazing, though…I can go in there just to look around and I always find something I didn’t even know I needed! As I did today. Finally, the dog was ready, so I went to hear the report. He is fine…just getting old. He is 13 years old and has arthritis in both hips. Bless his heart. He’s such a good boy. He got his allergy shot and that should help with the arthritis, too. If not, we are going to try some other meds.
FINALLY, I could head home. Ian called me and said, “What was up with you this morning?” “Just your crazy Mom, acting her age!”, I said. “Well, I’ll see you in a little while, I’m headed home,” he said. “What brings you home this weekend?”, I asked. “The Peanut Festival Fair starts tonight”, he replied. “Oh, I knew there had to be a reason you were coming,” I said. Quickly he added, “But, the main reason is to see my mama.” Yeah…right! I know a save when I hear one. Whatever the reason, I’m glad he’s coming…maybe he’ll bring me a corn dog and a caramel apple from the fair!
Hope you have a fun, restful week end with the ones you love. Enjoy Autumn!
